Las Cruces Public Schools is located in southern New Mexico 45 miles north of the Mexican border. With more than 3,600 employees and nearly 24,000 students in 35 schools the district is the second largest in the state.
"We went live on IFAS last July, but started our RSP service during implementation. It has been a lifesaver for us. We did not have a UNIX expert on our IT staff and IT did not want to hire one. We have been very happy with RSP. After we went live, I had a problem on a Sunday with expired licenses. I called my RSP person on his cell phone and we worked through it. The response time is excellent. The greatest part of RSP is upgrades. RSP loads the upgrade on the test server. We test it and then they load it on production, which includes bringing in the custom programs or patches. We have to tell RSP what custom programs and patches we need installed, but it is relatively painless for us.
"RSP isn't cheap, but when we look at the cost of hiring someone (including benefits), the cost is not unreasonable."
