Farmington Municipal Schools Chooses SunGard Public Sector ERP Solution, IFAS

Reporting, Workflow and Web-based Capabilities all Factor in Selection

SunGard Public Sector today announced that Farmington Municipal Schools, New Mexico, has selected Integrated Financial and Administration Solution (IFAS) to manage its financial, human resources and payroll information. IFAS is a fully integrated ERP solution for encumbrance-based fund accounting.

Farmington underwent the search for a new financial and administrative solution in part due to the reporting shortfalls of its legacy system. “We knew the information was in the system,” said D’Rese Sutherland, assistant superintendent of finance for Farmington. “The challenge was being able to pull out what we needed.” The inherent reporting abilities of IFAS will help Farmington create reports unique to the state of New Mexico, as well as ad hoc, “as needed” reports. A flexible chart of accounts will help facilitate future changes required by the state.

As a result of choosing SunGard Public Sector’s IFAS, Farmington will be upgrading its current technology and moving to a Web-based system. Workflow functionality will help Farmington to streamline its financial processes. Workflow provides a graphical interface to model and automate business processes such as spending approvals, task list item assignments, e-mail notifications and reporting.

“Farmington Municipal Schools is a welcome addition to our growing community of K-12 organizations,” said Drake Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for SunGard Public Sector Bi-Tech. “We are dedicated to help Farmington meet its ERP technology needs.”
